The world's largest footwear manufacturer, Yue Yuen Industrial (Holdings) Ltd, on Monday posted a 3.7 per cent year-on-year climb in first quarter net profit.
The company, which makes sports shoes for firms including Nike and Reebok, said net income for the quarter to December 31 was $52.2 million, up from $50.4m in the year-ago period
Yue Yuen, which makes around 15 per cent of the world's shoes, added in a statement that turnover for the quarter jumped 7.2 per cent to $466.2m from $435.1m.
Last month, Yue Yuen said it expects high single-digit growth this fiscal year amid an upturn in demand for its products in its main market - the United States.
